Glenn Peers is Emeritus Professor of the History of Art at both Syracuse University and the University of Texas at Austin. A specialist in Byzantine art, he is the author of numerous books, including Sacred Shock: Framing Visual Experience in Byzantium; Byzantine Media Subjects; and Animism, Materiality, and Museums: How Do Byzantine Things Feel? In 2013, he curated an exhibition at the Menil Collection in Houston, TX, titled Byzantine Things in the World.
This lecture is part of the Elizabeth Allen Visiting Scholars in Art History Series.
