https://www.niu.edu/employee-assistance/index.shtmlEmployee Wellbeing is happy to announce that beginning Wednesday, July 17th we will be coordinating the annual Walk2Run program. New this year, we are also adding a Walk2Talk option. Both of these programs are free to staff, faculty, family, and the general community and provide opportunities to support each other, grow our community, and collectively give time to our health and wellbeing.
Walk2Run is a guided 10-week training program for beginning runners. The program gradually builds your physical and mental stamina and skills and prepares you to complete the annual DeKalb Corn Classic 10K/5K race taking place across DeKalb and the NIU campus on Sunday, September 29th. Walk2Talk invites all to engage in a more casual and interactive experience which allows for a chance to move, talk, share experiences, for overall wellbeing.
We invite you to register as a participant in this fun, community experience. Coordinated by Employee Well-being and led by NIU’s own Greg Hulmes (ORED Operations) and Lise Schlosser (Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality). To register: Registration and Sign Waiver
The Walk2Run and Walk2Talk programs will guide you to enhance your own wellbeing. During the 10-week program, Greg, Lise, and other participants from the previous year’s teams will offer in-person and email instruction, guidance, and support.
We will meet each Wednesday for 10 weeks, beginning July 17th, at 5 pm in front of the South entrance to the Chick Evans Field House. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us at EmployeeWellbeing@niu.edu.
