About this Event
This new virtual training resource will focus on how trauma manifests itself in those who are racially marginalized. The three-part series will focus on racialized trauma and trauma-informed practices while acknowledging and honoring the multiple identities of our students, faculty and staff.
The Divisions of Academic Affairs, Division of Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI), and Student Affairs invite you join us and the Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington of the Washington Consulting Group to participate in a virtual Trauma-Informed Practice Series:
March 3 — 10 a.m. to noon: Examining trauma-informed practices within higher education.
The recording of the March 3 session is now available on the NIU Continuing and Professional Education learning platform website.
March 31 — 10 a.m. to noon: Engaging marginalized Huskies through a trauma-informed lens.
April 14 — 10 a.m. to noon: Enacting restorative practices to respond to racialized trauma.
Employees will be granted leave time to participate. The sessions will be recorded and available to watch at another time. If you are not able to participate in any session, it is requested that you watch the appropriate recording prior to participating in subsequent sessions.
Anti-racism work is a critical first step toward creating belonging for every Huskie across NIU. As an institution, we are committed to holding space for meaningful conversations and creating new opportunities to navigate the real trauma our community lives with.
