Transgender Day of Visibility: Education as Liberation
Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual celebratory event where communities from across the globe come together to honor transgender, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals with the ultimate goal of raising awareness and moving towards trans justice.
Centering these voices and lived experiences at Northern Illinois University, the Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality and Gender and Sexuality Resource Center invites submissions from individuals who identify as transgender, trans, genderqueer, non-binary, agender to share links to information they wish others would know about their experience.
Submissions could be news articles, terminology, TikToks, and/or media (may be self-created) that gives others an awareness of lived experiences and nuances of living and learning as trans. Content categories include classroom learning, experiences on and off campus, relationships, and additional areas individuals want to highlight.
On March 31, we will share a space at the GSRC from 1-3pm and discuss these submissions, what content inclusion looks like at NIU, and celebrate Trans Visibility. Further details will be shared on NIU's calendar, social media, and via email.
