Focus groups are a core tool for obtaining input from stakeholders for many organizations. They can help organizations better understand issues and obtain more detailed information. But effective facilitation is required for your focus group to successfully gather the information you need. This workshop will introduce you to the skills needed to be an effective facilitator – including tips on how to ask questions that will elicit quality responses. You’ll learn the four stages of a focus group and get vital insights into concepts, techniques, tools and available resources for focus group facilitation. NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies staff facilitate about 20 focus groups a year for clients. Our experts will explore and shed light on the focus group facilitation process, providing tips and tricks along the way.
