About this Event
340 Carroll Avenue, DeKalb IL 60115
#TDORNIU24Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. TDOR began in 1999 with the murder of Rita Hester.
In commemoration of TDOR, and to underscore the value of Trans lives at NIU and beyond, this gallery walk celebrates the lives and experiences of NIU Trans students.
Participants in this gallery walk are encouraged to experience this immersive, multimedia experience (art, music, video) to honor those lost, and to appreciate Trans Huskies who are our friends, colleagues, classmates, fellow students, and alumni.
Join faculty, staff, and students enrolled in Trans Studies in bringing our NIU community together to collectively share in bringing memory to power. All are welcome to support Trans individuals and allies, while learning about lived experiences. Jointly sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center and the Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality.
