Tales from the Archives: “Research Tips and Travel Stories from History Professors Working on New Book Projects.”
Professor Beatrix Hoffman (history, Northern Illinois University) will discuss her work on "The Chicanx Movement and Health Care." Professor Hoffman specializes in U.S. history, history of medicine, Constitutional history, research methods and Latino history. Her current research is on undocumented immigrants and the right to health care; health care social movements.
Presidential Research Professor Aaron Fogleman (history, Northern Illinois University) and Associate Professor Robert Hanserd (history, Columbia College - Chicago) will present their work on "Five Hundred African Voices: A Catalog of Published Accounts by Africans Enslaved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, 1586-1936." "Philadelphia: American Philosophical Society," forthcoming 2022.
A distinguished research professor, Fogleman teaches undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in early American history and the history of the Atlantic world, as well as methodology courses and independent studies by undergraduate and graduate students.
Hanserd's research interests include West African Gold Coast and Bight of Benin cosmologies, cultures and histories; Afro-Atlantic inspirations to maroon, free Black and slave struggles for freedom and identity in the Caribbean and North America; and a range of topics related to African, Caribbean and African American history and life.
