About this Event

https://niusteamcamps.com/Come be an agent of change! Spend your summer discovering how you can become an active participant in creating a sustainable future for all. We are just one part of a giant ecosystem where everything is interconnected. To truly be sustainable, we need to identify what drives environmental change through natural processes and as a result of human impact. The only way we can create a sustainable future is to identify how our economic, environmental, and social practices work in harmony with the resources available to us.
During the week at the NIU Sustainability Camp, campers will have a chance to get their feet wet in exploring the various characteristics of DeKalb County waterways that help different groups, both local and governmental, determine how diverse and healthy the waterways are. Examine current and proposed restoration projects where conventional landscaping methods may otherwise have been used. Discover how organizations might adapt certain practices so that energy that would have been lost through waste can be repurposed or recycled.
Join NIU faculty, staff and graduate students who are the NIU Superheroes of Sustainability and find where your passion lies in creating a more sustainable future for all.
Participant Grades: entering grades 9-12
