Supporting Multiracial Students

Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Location: HSC, Heritage Room

NIU offers a wealth of services, involvement opportunities, and cultural resource centers/offices that are comprised of faculty, staff, and students who are committed to fostering a sense of belonging for students who hold historically underrepresented racial/ethnic identities. Have you ever considered the experiences of students who hold more than one racial/ethnic identity? During this session, we will explore some experiences of these students and recommendations for how to begin supporting them. Led by Ariel Owens, Associate Director for Women, Gender, and Multiracial Support.

This session is a part of the Inclusion in Action series which aims to support effective working relationships among employees at NIU through the sharing of knowledge and resources. Sessions are facilitated by employees across campus on various topics each month. Interested in facilitating a workshop? Have a topic suggestion?
