About this Event
Inclusion in Action is a campus-wide professional development series hosted by Prevention Education and Outreach. The focus of Inclusion in Action workshops is how to build healthy relationships with all members of the NIU community, including ourselves. Our goal is to showcase the wealth of knowledge and expertise that our staff, faculty, and students bring with them into our community. These workshops will be facilitated by experts across campus on an array of topics.
Join us in learning from Dr. Paul Priester, who will facilitate a workshop on how addiction impacts individuals and how to best support your colleagues who are affected by this disease. This workshop will focus on the following topics:
- Understand the progressive nature of addiction
- Be able to articulate the withdrawal process for alcohol and benzodiazepines
- Understand the term "disease" as it relates to addiction
- Be able to identify key behavioral characteristics in the progression of alcoholism
- Understand the dynamics of denial in addictions
We look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
