Supervisory Referrals to the Employee Assistance Program
Supervisors can refer an employee for any reason when the employee is not meeting the performance expectations of the job or when something appears to be interfering with the employee’s performance prior to disciplinary actions. This demonstrates to the employee that the supervisor is doing what they can to support them in changing their behavior. It is also recommended that an employee who has been placed on leave for any reason be referred. The Employee Assistance Professional helps the employee accept the situation and develop coping strategies and skills related to the employee’s situation. This workshop focuses on what the EAP does to assist the employee and how to talk with the employee about the EAP services. Participants have the opportunity to discuss and role play problem situations. Presented by Nancy Apperson, Employee Assistance Program.
