Summer Rehearsal and Performance
The following information applies only to members of the woodwind and brass section. Drumline and Colorguard will have a different schedule for this weekend.
Plan to arrive at noon, in order to meet your section leaders and get ready for rehearsal. Please print your music. Please print the following materials and bring them to rehearsal that day:
- National Anthem
- Scale Fluency in Bb
- Huskie Fight Song
- Flexibility for Band
- Natural Lip Slurs
Plan to eat lunch before you arrive at NIU. Some sections of the band may get together for
an informal late breakfast/early lunch hang prior to rehearsal, but either way, make sure you eat before you arrive at the music building. Look for emails from your section leaders to remind you of other details. Dinner will be provided around 6 p.m.
CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE
Please confirm that you are able to attend by completing the RSVP Form. We need to know exactly who will be here so we can order food and tickets for the show.
We have the distinct honor of performing the National Anthem at the Tour of Champions Show from Drum Corps International. The Phantom Regiment will feed the entire band after our rehearsal off their food truck. Our performance will be at 6:45 p.m. in Huskie Stadium, prior to the start of the show at 7 p.m. The Huskie Marching Band will buy your ticket to the show, your evening meal and a marching band t-shirt, so it’s going to be a great night! The show runs until about 10 p.m., so make plans to travel safely home after the event.
UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT
Wear your summer uniform for this performance. Huskie Marching Band will provide a t-shirt. You are responsible for providing a pair of khaki, tan or light brown shorts. This summer uniform will be used for performances during band camp, plus other early-season performances as well, so please obtain the appropriate garments.
If you need to check out a mellophone, marching baritone, sousaphone or tenor saxophone, please contact Dr. Thomas Bough firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment to get an instrument.
Make sure you do the following four things before the July 8 deadline:
- Register for band camp.
- Send in Medical Forms.
- Send in Order Form with payment.
- Register for the class MUSE 335:
- Section 0001- Winds and Drumline
- Section 0002- Silverettes
- Section 0003- Colorguard
