https://go.niu.edu/STEMCafeHumans have been attempting to predict the weather for thousands of years. However, our current instruments and modeling techniques are quite recent. Computers, weather satellites and networks of meteorological observatories have made weather forecasting much more accurate in recent decades.
At this STEM Café, you’ll learn about the history and recent progress of weather forecasting, including the impact of new technology. We’ll also hear about future potential advances in forecasting atmospheric conditions.
Speaker:
Vittorio (Victor) Gensini, Ph.D., NIU associate professor of earth, atmosphere and environment.
