STEAM Studio: Minecraft Virtual World Designer
Tuesday, February 2, 2021 3:30 PM to 5 PM
About this Event
NIU STEAM Studio offers online afterschool workshops for students in grades 3-12. This class is recommended for students in grades 6-8.
Are you interested in Minecraft, block and JavaScript programming, modifying skins, 3D development or video games? This fun online workshop helps to develop skills in coding, problem solving, graphic design and teamwork. Learn how to build 3D worlds in a community server, while you learn the basics of coding logic. Learn through a combination of live, online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, recorded videos, and downloadable step-by-step instruction.
You’ll need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets our computer hardware and software requirements. You’ll also need a computer mouse for PC, MAC or Chromebook; headphones with microphone capability; and a webcam. Students will receive a login for our online webinar tool and the learning management system before the start of each session. We use the Minecraft Education Edition, which is available on Windows, MAC, iPad and Chromebook. Your login will be provided on the first day and will provide access to Minecraft for the duration of the course.
This is a 2-week workshop that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
