https://go.niu.edu/STEAMCampsWant to know how your favorite video game was created? And learn how to create a game of your own? This camp is your chance to use game-design engines to create fun, playable video games.
Using entry-level game design engines, learn to design your own video game, develop a game narrative, and make game assets. You’ll learn the basics of video game creation, including asset creation, character design, coding languages and narrative structure.
You’ll use the gaming PCs in the NIU Esports Arena and talk to NIU Esports staff about college esports programs.
As you develop your game design skills, you’ll also learn about the careers available in the video game industry – from artists and writers to computer programmers.
In this camp, you’ll:
- Learn the basics of game design and development while creating your own video game.
- Learn about a variety of growing game design careers from industry professionals.
- Work collaboratively with other campers to share ideas and feedback.
For students entering grades 9-12.
