https://go.niu.edu/STEAMCampsEver wonder why you get hungry? Or why you can still see images after you close your eyes? We’re all born with a natural sense of curiosity, which inspires us to better understand the world in which we live. At our STEAM Seekers Camp, you’ll explore and discover why things in our world work the way they do. You’ll practice observation and imagination skills by participating in a variety of daily activities designed to excite, inspire, and satisfy your natural curiosity. We’ll ask and attempt to answer questions that stretch our thinking and then participate in interactive activities to learn the science behind those questions.
In this camp, you’ll:
• Learn the basics behind what powers your refrigerators, TV’s and computers by investigating electricity.
• Build your own solar oven to make s’mores powered by energy from the sun.
• Investigate how our bones and muscles work together to enable movement.
• Learn about the properties of light and what makes something be that color.
• Explore and experiment with the soil, rocks and water found on NIU’s campus.
For students entering grades 2-5.
