About this Event
230 Normal Rd, DeKalb, IL 60115
https://go.niu.edu/STEAMCampsEngineers develop everything from electrical systems to medical devices to self-driving cars – and to do so they rely on and interact with digital technology. Learn about the latest advances in engineering – from artificial intelligence to big data analysis – and how they can help engineers address global problems and make the world a better place for future generations.
Manufacturing is changing quickly, and so are engineering careers. The traditional assembly line is giving way to automation, machine learning and new possibilities for streamlining and reducing waste. Sustainability is now at the forefront in many industries.
You’ll work with NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology faculty and engineering professionals to explore ways engineers are addressing global sustainability issues. You’ll develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills with hands-on challenges and fun design projects that will spark your inner engineer! Meet with NIU Engineering students and visit additional engineering and tech labs.
In this camp, you’ll:
- Explore engineering fields and their role in striving towards a sustainable future.
- Engage in hands-on engineering activities with NIU faculty.
- Build college and career skills such as communication, problem solving and teamwork.
- Collaborate with team members to complete a design challenge focused on innovation and sustainability.
- Present design solutions to your peers, family and professionals.
