School of Art and Design Visiting Artist - Margaret Dolinsky

Margaret Dolinsky, associate professor of digital art at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University will present a visiting artist talk on how she explores the relationships to self, one another and nature through her work.

"My talk will illustrate how my art has evolved as I situate portraits and landscapes in subversive confrontation," Dolinsky said. "My artworks begin as automatic sketches that are transformed … typically using vivid colors … to become digital paintings for virtual reality, opera sets, videos, and animations. My reality is now an extended reality through the use of AR, VR, 3D prototyping, and stereoscopic photography. I have evolved as a VR artist transitioning from the playfulness of early computer graphics and immersive presence to the seriousness of high-resolution photography and its techno-ecological entanglements.
