Reflections on the morning of 9/11/2001 and its aftermath
Join the Huskie community in commemorating the events of September 11, 2001 by attending a panel discussion about the tragedy and it's lasting impact.
Panelists include:
- Kathleen McFadden, Board of Trustees Professor and Dean's Distinguished Professor of OM&IS in the College of Business
- Darren Mitchell, Acting NIU Chief of Police
- Sue Stephens, WNIJ news anchor (moderator)
- Ches Thurber, Assistant Professor of Political Science
The panel will discuss what it was like on campus the morning of September 11, 2001, and in its immediate aftermath as well as the lasting effect that the tragedy has had.
Stephens was in the WNIJ studio that morning covering the unfolding news, McFadden was teaching a class, and Mitchell was a patrol officer who had just left his shift. Thurber, whose research expertise covers international security, conflict, and contentious politics, will talk about how 9/11 has influenced politics today.
