Join the Pick Museum of Anthropology on Zoom for Pros at the Pick! We will be chatting with Jen Thum from the Harvard Art Museums. If you are interested in museum careers or ever wondered what it is like to work in cultural institutions, Pros at the Pick is a space to make connections and gain insight about what really goes on in museums.
Jen Thum is Assistant Director of Academic Engagement and Assistant Research Curator at the Harvard Art Museums. In this role she creates object-based, interdisciplinary learning experiences for students across the university; oversees a training program for Master's students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education who learn to teach with works of art for local high schoolers; and researches and teaches with the museums' ancient Egyptian collection.
Jen is trained as an archaeologist and a specialist in ancient Egyptian art. She earned her PhD in Archaeology and the Ancient World from Brown University, her MPhil in Egyptology from the University of Oxford, and her BA in Anthropology from Barnard College. She has a deep interest in museum pedagogy and is committed to celebrating the learning potential of works of art for students and the public alike.
