About this Event
Travel with us on this two-week adventure via train to backpack and explore all the biomes of Olympic National Park. Covering nearly one million acres in the Pacific Northwest, highlights of the park include the rugged peaks of the Olympic Mountains, incredible old-growth rain forests, and a scenic coastline full of unique beaches.
The trip begins with two days crossing the country on an Amtrak from Chicago to Olympia-Lacey. We will rent a van and travel to the park. The first night we will prepare for our 4-day backpacking trip in the Enchanted Valley. Then we will continue to explore the northwest part of the park as well as along the Pacific coast before we catch the train home.
The registration fee includes all food, transportation, equipment, leadership, and all camping, permits, and park fees for an incredible value. All ages welcome! Those under 16 require a parent/guardian over the age of 18 to attend.
Trip Dates: Mon, Jul 24 - Sat, Aug 5
Registration cost/deadline: NIU Student: $1,500, Non-Student: $1,750
