Online STEAM Camp: Video Game Design with GameMaker

Interested in making your own video games but don't know where to start? In this camp we will cover the game development engine GameMaker.

Instruction will include a combination of live online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, along with recorded videos and downloadable step-by-step instruction.

In this camp you will learn GameMaker design software, explore popular video games and learn the essentials of game design. You’ll get to create game characters, invent game goals and rules, design a game interface and create sound effects as you design your own video game.

Computer Hardware and Software Requirements: View this list of minimum requirements for attending the GameMaker camp. Please review these requirements carefully. This camp is highly technical and cannot be completed without the necessary hardware and software.

This is an online camp delivered by Northern Illinois University's Digital Convergence Lab. To access this camp you will need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets the computer hardware and software requirements. Students will receive a login to an online webinar tool and the learning management system before the start of camp.
Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate.
