##AARC #ADEIOHANA is one of the many programs of the Asian American Resource Center to help students achieve academic success, cultural education, leadership development and career readiness for all NIU Students. OHANA takes place every Tuesday at 5pm and is open to all.
In this OHANA event, we will be diving into the experiences of guest speaker Yui Alde. Yui Alde is a first-generation small scale organic vegetable farmer in Shabbona, Dekalb county. Specialize in fermented foods and added value products at local farmers markets. She makes over 25 different flavors of sauerkrauts using homegrown ingredients and many of them are inspired by her Japanese heritage, which is very unique to her business and the bloodline of her farm. For her presentation, she will be sharing about her farm, fermentation, how to have sustainable practices and what farming looks like on a business model. She will be having a small interaction activity where she will bring in samples of her sauerkrauts that students can try.
