Call for Papers

Abstracts Now Due By: February 7, 2024

Northern Illinois University’s annual Southeast Asian Studies Student Conference is inviting submissions for its annual symposium, which is set for Saturday, April 6, 2024. We welcome submissions of abstracts until January 31, 2024. Our purpose is to celebrate original research from a broad range of fields that engage with Southeast Asia creatively; undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to submit papers from various disciplines. The Southeast Asian Studies Conference Committee will review the abstracts, select presenters, and organize panels by theme. To aid the process, we ask that you please include a few keywords summarizing your presentation along with your abstract.

Please submit abstracts to the following email address: seastudentconference@gmail.com

All abstracts should be limited to 250 words and sent in MS Word format (not a PDF). Please name your abstract using your first and last name together (for example, janedoe.doc for Jane Doe’s abstract). The subject of the message should specify “Abstract,” and the body of the email should include the following information:

• Author name (s)
• Institutional affiliation (s)
• Title of paper
• Primary email address
• Paper topic or keywords
• Abstract (attached as an MS Word Doc)

Best paper awards will be given for undergraduate and graduate papers. A panel of NIU faculty will read each paper, rank, and select winners.

Confirmation of Attendance Deadline: March 1, 2024
