NIU Celebrates June LGBTQ+ Pride Month!  Join us Peters Campus Life Building for our fifth annual celebration.

This year’s event will celebrate support and allyship of LGBTQ+ equity and inclusion at NIU.  In large and small ways, so many individuals and units across campus have collectively contributed to care, support, and belonging of LGBTQ+ Huskies and their allies. This year, we celebrate you, this community, and all the good work happening on our campus!

Wear your Huskie LGBTQ+ Pride merch and drop in as your schedule allows to join supportive NIU colleagues and friends.   We will celebrate and have an opportunity to show your support in a group picture, followed by time for connection and celebration of our accomplishments.  Special guest, Mission Huskie, will also make an appearance!

Agenda:

1 p.m. Arrive at the start for a “NIU Celebrates Pride!” group picture!  You show your support year-round—now, picture yourself—literally—surrounded by supportive colleagues. Wearing your Huskie LGBTQ+ Pride merch is encouraged, and pairs perfectly with our favorite live mascot!

1:15 to 1:30 p.m.: Meet and take pictures with special guest, Mission Huskie. (Rotunda, PCLB 132)

1:30 p.m.-2 p.m.: Gather in community at the GSRC to celebrate, share and reflect on our collective community accomplishments (milestones, awards, support moments).  Facilitated by the directors of the GSRC and Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality (CSWGS), we’ll recap the year and discuss opportunities to come. Event concludes at 2:00 p.m.

Those who can't make it in person, but who want to show their NIU LGBTQ+ Huskie Pride, may tag the GSRC on social media.  Throughout the month, we’ll highlight and celebrate NIU resources and points of pride, along with selected resources to learn more.
