This year's event takes place April 4, and we would love for you to join us in making a positive impact! The event kickoff runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at the Holmes Student Center. Work at community service sites will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Register as an individual, with your student organization or as a department team.
What is NIU Cares Day?
NIU Cares Day is a cherished tradition at Northern Illinois University, uniting students, student organizations, faculty and staff in service projects throughout the community. It's an opportunity to make a difference while building connections and embodying the spirit of Huskie pride. Volunteers engage in a variety of projects, such as:
- Assisting local nonprofits and community organizations.
- Cleaning up parks and public spaces.
- Supporting neighborhood beautification efforts.
- Helping with special community initiatives.
