Merritt Address: Teaching Hope and Reviving Democracy
Sarah Stitzlein, Ph.D. Professor of Education and Affiliate Professor of Philosophy, University of Cincinnati is the 2021-2022 recipient of the James and Helen Merritt Award for Distinguished Service to Philosophy of Education.
During this presentation, she will explain what hope is, why it matters to democracy, and how we can teach it in schools, universities, and civil society. She will also respond to struggles resulting from the pandemic and other societal strains that pose additional challenges to hope in our schools and in our democracy.
