The third annual Juneteenth community celebration will be held at Hopkins Park in DeKalb. Join us for celebration featuring social services information, Black vendors, food, music, paint n sip, Black history trivia, games, and much more!

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Union soldiers landed at Galveston, Texas bringing the news the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were now free. This was two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
