About this Event
How Latinx Migration Shaped the Modern Midwest.
Dr. Juan Ignacio Mora is a historian of Latinxs, race, labor, and popular culture whose work questions the meaning of foodways, migration, and citizenship in the modern United States. Mora's forthcoming book, Latinx Encounters: How Mexicans, and Mexican Americans, and Puerto Ricans Made the Modern Midwest, is under contract with the University of North Carolina Press. Drawing on multilingual research from U.S., Mexican, and Puerto Rican archives, this project examines three groups of Latinxs as they forged national and transnational networks through postwar migration and agricultural labor.
With funding support form the Graduate Colloquium.
