Dr. E. Taylor Atkins is Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Distinguished Teaching Professor of History at Northern Illinois University. His scholarship encompasses modern Japanese and Korean cultural history, ethnomusicology, transnational popular culture, public memory, colonialism and nationalism. He is considered a pioneer in "New Jazz Studies" for his efforts to internationalize jazz historiography. Some of his publications are accessible through Huskie Commons, ResearchGate, and Academia.edu. Dr. Atkins received his Ph.D. in History from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
