About this Event
Huskie PAC Chats is a series of 4 webinars covering topics in Special Needs Parenting delivered by Northern Illinois University, College of Health and Human Sciences Faculty. These webinars are free of charge to families and students, and aim to empower parents in seeking out and providing opportunities for their children. Each session will include a 45 minute presentation, followed by 15 minute Q and A in which families may directly interact with professionals and other families.
Week 4: The Communication Bill of Rights: Your Child’s Right to be Heard is presented by Deidre Dobbels, M.S. CCC-SLP/L. The National Joint Committee for the Communication Needs of Persons With Severe Disabilities (NJC) adopted the Communication Bill of Rights which identifies 16 rights that all children have. This webinar will review the rights and empower parents to advocate for their child’s communicative opportunities.
