How to Conduct a Focus Group (NEW)

Focus groups are widely used to gain insight from stakeholders on important issues. But are focus groups the best method to gather feedback and public opinion in all circumstances? When should focus groups be used? We’ll address these questions and more about how to conduct a focus group, including vital insights into the process, selecting the facilitator and location for the sessions, the use of incentives for participants, and analysis of the data. NIU’s Survey Research team undertakes about 20 focus groups a year for client groups ranging from nonprofits to local governments. This workshop will introduce participants to the concepts and tools essential to capturing feedback through focus groups. (Lunch will be on your own.)
