In this gallery talk, Professor Brad Sagarin (psychology) and Professor Kimberly Lawler-Sagarin (Elmhurst University, chemistry and biochemistry) will join us to speak about their research on Pokémon Go. Together with Andrew Pederson (B.S. 2019), they researched the activity of fellow Pokémon Go players and found that those who had reached higher levels in game also reported feeling higher levels of belonging, were more likely to have made a friend through the game, and were more likely to have visited a local business.
This talk is connected to the exhibit "At Play" which considers the significance of play throughout our lives. The exhibit will be on display at the Pick Museum of Anthropology September 26, 2024 through May 10, 2025.
