NIU Film Junior High Camp

NIU Film Junior High Camp

June 23 - 28, 2019

For students entering grades 5 - 8

Residential Camp

During the course of one week, students will learn the roles of key personnel in making a short media production. The students will learn how to use various equipment under the supervision of trained personnel. They will work together to create a short video and learn the process of putting collaborative work on sharable social media (e.g. Youtube, Instagram). The goal of this workshop is for students to gain insight into what it takes to make a film, gain confidence in creating their own work, and be able to use these skills at home.

Camp Director: Kevin Oakes received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Video and Film from the Illinois Institute of Art. He has worked for NIU since 2004 in Media Services and has over fifteen years experience in live production.
