Students taking less than nine credit hours are not automatically enrolled in our student health insurance program. However, if eligible, they do have the opportunity to voluntarily enroll for coverage.

The fall open enrollment period for our optional dental, vision, teledoc and health insurance plans administered by Benefit Partners Technology is open until Oct. 31, 2024. Any student enrolled at NIU may participate in the plans.

Plan highlights include:

• Free dental cleanings and x-rays.
• Coverage for orthodontic services with the DeltaCare plan.
• Affordable eye exams and lenses, allowances for eyeglass frames and contacts.
• Telemedicine plan with unlimited doctor consults and mental health visits at $0 co-pay.
• Health insurance, Affordable Care Act plans and short-term health insurance.
