Please join us this Saturday, October 9, 2021 for the second Crafting Community event at the Pick Museum of Anthropology.
This Saturday, visitors will learn to make pompoms featured on traditional Akha headdresses including the one on exhibit in the front windows of the gallery. The workshop will be led by Misuo (aka Haiying Li), a current MA student in the NIU Department of English and creator of the Akha clothing on display. Misuo is ethnic Akha and originally from Xishuangbanna in Southwest China. She began creating her own Akha style clothing while in graduate school in Thailand and hopes to inspire younger generations to find creative and meaningful ways to engage with their ancestral traditions. We are excited for her to share her knowledge with our visitors!
