We're offering our on-site, hourly rentals at the East Lagoon on Fridays as the spring semester ends. We currently accept walk-up rentals for canoe, kayak or double kayak. 

Arrive at the East Lagoon to enjoy your paddle. First time? Staff are there to give you instruction and help you in and out of the boat safely. We have all the boats, paddles and PFDs at the lagoon waiting for you.  

All ages welcome. We have child-size PFDs and paddles available for use. Anyone 16 years old and younger require parental signature on the liability form at time of registration. Those 12 and younger require supervision on shore or accompanying on the water.   

Boat Rentals: NIU student: $5; nonstudent: $10.   

NIU Recreation operates Cashless so a valid form of electronic or card payment is required 

Want to paddle the lagoon another day? We offer day and weekend rentals. Just stop by our Adventure Center to get the key and gear and you can go out anytime you want. Reach out for reservations or with any questions at adventures@niu.edu.
