Community Learning Series: It’s a Cyber World After All
Protect your kids and yourself online.
Our kids spend vast amounts of time on the Internet, whether for school or for pleasure. They’re sharing pictures with friends, using search engines, visiting websites, submitting homework, checking grades and playing video games. And we are engaging online too – researching for work, taking phone calls on watches and talking to Alexa. Who’s on the other side of our virtual connections? What personal information are we innocently providing? How do we balance educational and convenience benefits while protecting ourselves from cyber dangers?
Join our panel of community and NIU experts as we thoughtfully discuss Internet safety and security. We’ll explore why nothing is truly “free,” how marketers know what we’ve searched for, the unwanted consequences of living online, and the best way to support our kids and ourselves while using this powerful tool.
