This Show & Share will feature:

Dr. Stephen Tonks - Associate Professor, Leadership, Educational Psychology and Foundations (LEPF)

Reading Motivation and Engagement in Students 8 to 28

Dr. Tonks will provide an overview of his research on reading motivation and engagement in students from 3rd grade through college age. Themes include teachers’ support of students’ reading engagement and the measurement of reading motivation.


Dr. Stacey Kelly - Project Director Braille Training Grant U.S. Department of Education, Associate Professor Visual Disabilities Program

Dr. Stacy Kelly will present an overview of her Braille Training Grant project. The braille code changed in 2016 for the first time in modern history. Northern Illinois University became the only university in the country approved and funded to retrain thousands of existing professionals on the new braille code through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) using the world's first automatic braille grading tool to provide professionals with instant feedback on their skills with the new braille code.


Dr. Hamid Bateni - Associate Professor, Allied Health and Communicative Disorders (AHCD).

 Why do people fall?

Dr. Bateni will present on some of his latest research on balance and postural control. He will also overview different measurements conducted and most recent direction of studies in his research laboratory.
