About this Event
View mapThis year's CISLL Annual Retreat will be Tuesday, May 23, from 9am-1pm in the Sky Room of NIU's Holmes Student Center. We will be welcoming keynote speaker Bob McMurray, F. Wendell Miller Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa (from 10am-11:15am). Please RSVP here.
Dr. McMurray will give a cutting-edge talk focused on a dimensional characterization of individual differences in processing (across time and ability), that challenges current cognitive models, and raises intriguing potentials for application. Dr. McMurray will discuss the need for cognitive theories to account not just for the modal language user, but the incredible diversity across language users, and that work on language disorders and development may benefit from abandoning a disease framing to characterize individuals in terms of more value-neutral dimensions of processing.
We will also have presentations from 2021-2022 PoP Grant recipients, recognition of 2022-2023 PoP Grant and CISLL Outstanding Student and Faculty Award (COSA/COFA) recipients, and a celebration of our center's accomplishments this year! A light breakfast and a lunch will be served. We will also be raffling off some CISLL-branded swag!
Please RSVP at the link below to indicate your plan to attend and any dietary needs.
