Characteristics of Effective Discussions Boards in Blackboard

The Blackboard Discussion Board continues to gain popularity as a tool supporting asynchronous collaboration in both blended and entirely online courses. This hands-on workshop will go beyond creating basic Question and Answer forums, in order to dive deeper into the attributions of a highly effective discussion.  A discussion forum can be a great tool for engagement, assessment and social cognition.  In this workshop, we will discuss best practice strategies in conceptualizing discussion board assignments, logistics, scheduling, and using exemplars and rubrics.  Advance registration is required.  Prerequisites:  Basic computer skills, Blackboard I: Introduction to Blackboard workshop or previous experience using Blackboard.  Register here:
