The Celebration Chorale announces its upcoming annual Christmas cantata, “Sing Christmas – A Christmas Choral Experience,” which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, December 6th and 7th, and Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. The production will be held at First United Methodist Church, 317 North 4th Street in DeKalb.
“Sing Christmas – A Christmas Choral Experience” is a musical composed and arranged by Mary McDonald and Joel Raney, orchestrated by Michael Lawrence. The work is composed of four suites; Sing Joy, Sing Noel, Sing Emmanuel, and Sing Gloria. Each movement includes original music combined with favorite carols, creating a perfect blend of familiar and new.
Although the Celebration Chorale practices and performs at FUMC in DeKalb, the musicians come from all over the area and include professionals and amateurs, longtime Chorale members, and those who are new to the group. The Chorale has singers representing over nine different church denominations and 10 local communities. The Celebration Chorale and Celebration Chorale Orchestra are under the direction of Christine Monteiro.
The church is an accessible facility. Please enter from the Fourth Street ground level entrance to reach the elevator easily. There is parking available adjacent to the church and across Fourth Street. There is no charge for the performances at the church, but there will be a free-will offering. Refreshments will be served after each performance in the Fellowship Hall.
