https://firstumc.net/The Celebration Chorale announces its upcoming annual Christmas cantata, “The Promise of Light,” which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd, and Sunday, December 4th at 2:00 p.m. The production will be held at First United Methodist Church, 317 North 4th Street in DeKalb.
The musical created by Joel Raney is an inspiring celebration of God's gift of eternal light! Traditional Christmas carols are masterfully blended with original music to tell the timeless story of the birth of Christ -- the light of the world. An entirely unique feature to this musical is the 4-hand piano accompaniment and handbell choir.
Although the Celebration Chorale practices and performs at FUMC in DeKalb, the musicians come from all over the area and include professionals and amateurs, longtime Chorale members, and those who are new to the group. The Chorale has singers representing over nine different church denominations and 10 local communities.
There is no charge for the performances at the church, but there will be a free-will offering. Refreshments will be served after the performances in Fellowship Hall.
The church is an accessible facility. Please enter from the Fourth Street ground level entrance to reach the elevator easily. There is parking available adjacent to the church and across Fourth Street.
