Canceled: Earth Day Restoration Project and Celebration / East Lagoon
Join NIU Outdoor Adventures to restore the East Lagoon and celebrate Earth Day.
The sides of the Lagoon are falling in because there is no root system to create stability along the shoreline. The goal is to plant a variety of plants along the Lagoons edge which can then create a root colony to support the shoreline, so it doesn't continue to cave in.
There will be at least 200 small plants to plant. Protection cages will also need to be put around the plants to protect them from trampling and geese. Types of plants to be planted (to name a few): Lizard Tail, Marsh Marigold, Duck Potato, Sweet Flag, and Blue Flag.
Towards the end join us for some snacks and learn more about the plants and the purpose of the project!
