Fall 2020 Virtual Career Fair Workshop
Instructions for students on how to attend

We’re looking forward to having you join us for the Career Fair Prep Workshop where you will learn valuable tips and tricks for navigating a virtual career fair, while also getting first-hand experience in the platform (Huskies Get Hired) where most of NIU’s virtual career fairs will take place this fall.

On the day of the Career Fair Prep Workshop, here’s what you’re going to do to access the event:

  • Log in to Huskies Get Hired.
Trouble logging in? Click Forgot Password.
Trouble connecting to Symplicity? Copy and paste the URL: into your browser.
Preferred browsers are Chrome and Edge.
  • Click on Events > Career Fairs > Fall 2020 Virtual Career Fair Prep Workshop > Attend.
  • Set your status to Online.
  • Go to the Employer tab to find employers attending (who are helping support the event).
  • Locate NIU Career Services and Group Chat to join for the initial presentation.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up to join the Group Chat. When joining a chat, instead of downloading Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc., select the option to join the meeting online and it will be faster to join.
  • During the meeting, we’ll give you next steps for joining one-on-one chats with employers (and other NIU Career Services staff), who will assist with practicing your elevator pitches. Please note: If you need to be able to prove attendance at this event, you will need to remain connected long enough to have at least one, one-on-one chat with an employer.
