Abstract: Since their inception particle accelerators have enabled discoveries over a wide range of scientific topics. They have also been deployed in societal settings to support advances in medicine, security, and industry. These formidable engines of discovery have also been continuous objects of study themselves leading to the new field of "Accelerator Science and Beam Physics". This field has pushed the boundaries producing particle beams with unprecedented properties (e.g. brightness and shapes) at the ultrafast time scale while also attempting to miniaturize particle-accelerator technologies. This presentation will discuss some examples of associated research topics connected with the NIU program in Accelerator Science and Beam Physics.
