Becoming Hispanic Serving Institutions: Faculty and Staff Workshop
Wednesday, Sept. 21, noon via Zoom

Participants will engage with ideas from the book ‘Becoming Hispanic Serving Institutions: Opportunities for Colleges and Universities’. Led by Dr. Garcia, this workshop is hands on, beginning with a look at the typology of HSI Organizational Identities, examining current instruction and institutional type, and working towards the type of instruction NIU wants to become. Dr. Garcia will provide tangible ways for faculty to rethink their classroom practices, staff to elevate support services that center students’ intersectional identities, and administrators to make decisions that consider the needs of Latinxs and other students of color.
