Become a GIVE Circle Facilitator
About this Event
600 Lucinda Ave, DeKalb, IL 60115
Become a Growing through Inclusive Vulnerability and Empathy (GIVE) Circle Facilitator in this training.
GIVE Circles are opportunities for participants, whether students, faculty or staff, to engage in deep listening and conversation of shared experiences related to various topics. They are moments to build connections, understanding and empathy amongst those participating. GIVE Circles can play an important role in bringing the campus community together to explore our common humanity.
As a facilitator, you would be an important part of creating and maintaining spaces on campus for students, faculty and staff to establish self-agency and cultivate a sense of belonging.
Here are the expectations to maintain active facilitator status:
- Shadowing/observation: You'll be provided with the opportunity to shadow/observe a GIVE Circle if you don't feel 100% comfortable after the training.
- Facilitation: To sustain facilitators, we ask them to facilitate circles in their areas and embed in their initiatives (Don't worry, we'll address this in the training).
- Upon completing facilitator training: Host and facilitate two circles per academic year.
- Returning facilitators: Host and facilitate two circles per semester (this will begin 2026-27 academic year).
- Check-in: Participate in at least one facilitator check-in per semester to share experiences with the Huskie First team to receive continued guidance and support.
- Ongoing development: Complete one professional development opportunity per semester offered through Huskie First.
- Reflections: Submit a short reflection (half page) after each facilitated session.
