A Worthy Calling: 125+ Years of Preparing Teachers Exhibit

The NIU College of Education invites everyone to walk through our Milan Township One-Room Schoolhouse (located east of the football stadium) to see the exhibit.

A Worthy Calling: 125+ Years of Preparing Teachers

More than 125 years after its chartering, the institution known since 1957 as Northern Illinois University continues to prepare excellent teachers with the professional knowledge, abilities and passion demanded by current and future stakeholders.

Whether in the one-room schoolhouses that crowded the Prairie State for much of our first half-century or in the cutting-edge, high-tech classrooms of today, graduates of the NIU College of Education have applied their transferable skills in ways that manifest or anticipate contemporary best practices.
