Cans Around the Commons
As a part of Student Involvement & Leadership Development's Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, SILD will be hosting a new initiative called 'Cans Around the Commons.' Cans Around the Commons is a campus-wide canned-food drive with a twist that encourages the entire NIU community to donate canned goods for our local food pantries (Feed'em Soup Community Project and Hope Haven)!
We are asking that Student Organizations collect canned goods amongst themselves from now until Friday, November 16. On November 16th, all of the collected canned goods will be displayed in the MLK Commons from 12:00-4:00 p.m. This event allows the entire NIU community to come together for a great cause and give back to our DeKalb community. Let's see which organization can collect the most cans!
Please encourage your organization to participate in this awesome event! To participate in Cans Around the Commons, please e-mail your Organization's name and contact information to communityservice@niu.edu by Monday, November 12.
We encourage each group to gather at least 100 cans although more or less are greatly appreciated!
